Morton's
on the Wharf is an elegant yet informal restaurant where great
attention has been paid to detail, ensuring that the menu, decor
and ambiance are all typical of a fine French Quarter restaurant.
The restaurant
has been named after one of New Orleans' most colourful and controversial
figures, Mr Jello Roll Morton, the self proclaimed inventor of
jazz. Pianist, bandleader, gambler, hustler and gourmet - his
flamboyance epitomised the excitement and excesses of the Jazz
Age.
Morton's on
the Wharf offers a panoramic view over a working harbour and is
the perfect venue for a light luncheon, or an elegant dinner.
Our staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable on the unusual
and varied dishes on the menu. Our extensive wine list, including
a Nederburg Auction selection, caters for a variety of tastes.
Some of our
specialities include Venison on a red wine and spicy beetroot
sauce or lamb shank slow braised in red wine, herbs and tomato
and accompanied by homemade peach chutney. Firm favourites include
our Blackened steaks and Line Fish. In addition to these dishes,
Morton's serves a variety of fresh seafood, poultry and delicious
homemade desserts.
We can cater
for up to 240 diners inside, and weather permitting, 40 diners
outside. Alternatively, exclusive use of the restaurant can be
catered for up to 270 guests.
Our fully
licensed bar is the perfect venue to enjoy one of our famous strawberry
daiquiris or to dine from our fabulous snack menu. The bar offers
a vibrant and relaxed atmosphere and is a favorite haunt for light
lunches, after work drinks or pre-movie meals.
Our trading
hours are daily 12h00 to 15h00 and 18h00 to 23h00 for the a la
carte restaurant and 12h00 to 23h45 for the cocktail bar.
